Connection to Excel


Is it possible to connect to Excel using the Active Query Builder?
if the answer is yes then How?

There are two options to connect to Excel files:

1) Using the Excel files ODBC Driver: You should use the "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers" and setup your ODBC Connection to Excel as usual. Please note that this driver erroneously reports that all Excel sheets are system tables, so you have to set the QueryBuilder.TreeOptionsMetadata.ShowSystemTables property to True to see your worksheets.

2) Using the "Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider" (recommended). Building a connection string within the Link Properties dialog, you should select your Excel file, switch to "All" tab and set "Excel 8.0" to Extended Properties variable. The result connection string should look like the following:

Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\MyBook1.xls;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;Persist Security Info=False
