Few questions on AQB

Hi

I have been evaluating the trial version of the ocx and it is great. I have a few questions.

- If the "loginprompt" property value = True, and I leave the Login and Password blank in the Database Login form (the small form) and hit enter it connects in all the same. Is this the expected behaviour here. Maybe I am missing something but it seems like a good idea to deny the connection.

- Also, very small point but also with regards to the "loginprompt" property, if it set to true and the user then hits cancel at the database login form (the small form) it seems like the "cancel" option is not handled and it doesnt seem to give a clean exit. It can be handled in the calling routine which is ok ....

- For the "ACQ" branding, I saw that it was asked before but I am wondering if all of the links are removed in the full version. For example, the options/settings form etc or for example if you save the metadata in an xml file there is a link to activequerybuilder for "NamespaceSchemaLocation". Sorry for asking this again but I was wondering for that ?

- For purchasing, if someone purchases, the full version but then later decides they want to upgrade to the source code version - do they have to pay the full price or is there some kind of upgrade functionality - pay the difference in the price or something like that ?

Sorry for all the questions ! Great job on this product !!!

Dear Al,

Thank you for your questions.

> If the "loginprompt" property value = True, and I leave the Login and Password blank...

Yes, it seems normal from our point of view. If your database allows you to connect having empty username and password, why Active Query Builder should deny this connection? You should setup your database security settings to deny such connections.

> if it set to true and the user then hits cancel at the database login form (the small form) it seems like the "cancel" option is not handled and it doesnt seem to give a clean exit.

Thank you for your notice. We have fixed this problem. Now, when the LoginPrompt is True, the QueryBuilder's Connect method can be canceled by the user (if he clicks the "Cancel" button at the login prompt dialog), so you must check the Connected property to ensure that the QueryBuilder actually has established the connection. A small example is below:

ActiveQueryBuilderX1.LoginPrompt = True
ActiveQueryBuilderX1.Connect
If ActiveQueryBuilderX1.Connected Then
ActiveQueryBuilderX1.RefreshMetadata
End If

> For the "ACQ" branding, I saw that it was asked before but I am wondering if all of the links are removed in the full version.

Yes, all links and reminder messages will be removed in the Standard version. But I'm a little bit confised when you threat the link to XSD schema in NamespaceSchemaLocation as "branding". This is a link that allows to check XML document for validity; we do not remove this element in the Standard version. Is it bad?

> For purchasing, if someone purchases, the full version but then later decides they want to upgrade to the source code version

That's correct for the VCL and ActiveX Editions of Active Query Builder. Source code for the .NET Edition is a separate option that might be purchased at any time from our web site.
