Using ADO.Net tables.

Anyway your ActiveQuery can be configured to work without any database connections. That is to get the schema's from ADO.Net tables, allow the users to use the GUI to create the SQL and then have the application use that SQL. And also to take SQL and populate the GUI then allow the user to modify with the GUI creating modified SQL. It would be easy to specify the database server type being used, but the actual connection might be very difficult in our instance.

Yes, you may populate the Metadata Container programmatically and set the right Syntax Provider to generate the SQL for your database server.
I recommend you to look at the Load Metadata demo project that included in the installation package to find the way to load metadata that suit your needs.
