How to support SQL Compact Edition

Have I desktop databases SQL CE that i would like to provide query support. I didn't see a way to connect to CE databases out of the box. Is it possible for me to provide support for other databases?

Dear Alvin,

You may connect to this server using OLE DB (ADO) provider.

You may refer to this site to find examples of connection strings for your server: http://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server-2005-ce

You may see the Quick Start Guide to get Active Query Builder work: http://www.activequerybuilder.com/quick_start_guide.html

If you have problems with any other database servers, please let me know.

Please note that the Free version is limited in functionality: only the ANSI SQL/92 syntax is included in this version. To test Active Query Builder in full, you may request the trial version from our web site.

Hello Sergey,

Your proposition wont work. You will receive a message like "This OLE provider is not install on this computer...."

And it can be another problem with cpu32 or cpu64.

There is a complete class for SQL ce:

System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeDataAdapter
System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection
System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeTransaction
System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand[]

That will be the best way to do. (for the moment)

And for your futur release don't forget this provider, you will make lot of happy developpers ;)))
