HomeFlySpeed SQL QueryWarning: 2.17.14 stores queries at a different location

Warning: 2.17.14 stores queries at a different location

I was a happy user of 2.17.12, except that I was annoyed with the query storage location at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\ActiveDBSoft\FlySpeed SQL Query\<connection>: This location is not in my backup plan, so I had go make a junction to a location of choice ... not nice, but works.

Now, in 2.17.14, the location has apparently changed to C:\<connection> - even worse than before as now different users can bite each other on the same system!
Plus, 2.17.14 didn't even bother about announcing this location - rather it just appeared as if the exiting queries have been lost.

Propose to have a configurable location to where queries are stored.
Second, propose to keep locations from release to release, specifically if it's a minor update only.

Kind regards Stefan

Dear Stefan,

Sorry for this problem. We will release the fix very soon.

The next version will have ability to specify location for your queries.

i have just raised a support ticket about the same issue.

also raised the question of what we can expect to see in upcoming releases.
seems to have gone a bit quiet in recent months, what about if we start a thread specifically fro new feature requests

Please accept our apologies for keep you wainting for so long.
We are preparing the new version that will be available in a week or two. It will have lots of the wishes implemented ang bugs fixed. The main reason why this release took so much time is the necessity to update and fix the query building component proir to releasing the query tool. The upcoming release will have:
- ability to build queries with Common Table Expressions
- ability to edit BLOB files in various formats (HTML, RTF, browse and load images, etc.)
- ability to edit data in the Form View. This will ease editing of MEMO fields.
- ability to calculate totals
- ability to review SQL execution history
- ability to change folder to store queries "in connection".
- many minor usability impovements
All these things are already done, we just need some time to fix bugs of the previous version and to test the new functionality on different databases.

ok, thats great, i was a bit worried that it had all gone quiet.

please take on board the comments about version numbers, that has always been a real sticking point for me
do you not think that the version number shoudl go into the filename of the zip or executable

if you want someone to run a build past Postgres 9.0 then i am happy to help, use postgres 9.0 and 8.4 daily and am also in flyspeed daily as well.

The new version is available for downloading now. It fixes the bug with saving queries in connection to the root folder. Queries stored in the root will be correctly moved to the right folder automatically
(<user folder>/AppData/Local/ActiveDBSoft/FlySpeed SQL Query/<connection name>). You may change this folder in the Connection Properties dialog. (More options - Advanced - Connection Query Path)
