Does the VCL version come with mysql support?

I use mysql and the active query builder free version is useless to me unless it has mysql support.

Dear Ben,

Generally, the ANSI SQL/92 standard dialect is much closer to MySQL than, say, MS SQL Server. Please tell me, what edition of Active Query Builder (VCL, ActiveX or .NET) you use, so I can provide you with further instructions on how you may use the free version with MySQL. Also you may request a trial at the download page to test our component with MySQL in full.

Thanks for your fast prompt,

I am using the Delphi VCL Version. My main use of this would be for websites.
Many thanks,

Ben

Dear Ben,

First, I am not sure, how you are going to use VCL edition for websites. If you want to make an ActiveX object from it, please have a look at the ActiveX edition - this is it, we've build the ActiveX Edition on the base of AQB VCL Edition.

Using the VCL Edition, you should use the TacMySQLSyntaxProvider (assign it to the TacQueryBuilder.SyntaxProvider property) and... some of the metadata providers depending on the way you're going to connect to MySQL. This could be the TacADOMetadataProvider if you wish to work through the ODBC + OLE DB Provider for ODBC, or it could be one of the metadata providers for third-party direct access components. (I hope you alerady requested the trial to have all of these options available)

Using the ActiveX Edition, you should set the SQLSyntax property according to the MySQL version you have and the only option to connect to your MySQL database will be ODBC driver with OLE DB Provider for ODBC (use the EditConnectionString method to open database connection dialog). Another possibility is to use the previously saved metadata file without live database connection at all.

Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
